Satine's Hindi Rehearsal costume - or,

buttons in 8 easy steps"
Okay so it's only about 70 buttons, but still Images of Moulin Rouge/Nicole Kidman

The first picture here shows the shape the base should be,
and flat 'semi-circle'; unfortunately that shape does not stay put on a real
head (unless you hold completely and perfectly still at all times).

In order to get the thing to stay on my head, I had to
bend the base into more of a 'sweetheart' shape, similar to the headpiece
Satine wears in the finale/Hindi Sad Diamonds scene. If I left the base
'flat', it would flip with the tiniest move, so that one side of the beaded
'fans' would go forward and the other would go backward - even with securing
combs at the two sides where the base meets the head, and the top of the
head, and lots of bobby pins. Once I bent the base into the sweetheart
shape, it stayed on my head just by itself, without any combs or pins at
all, and I can move freely. I'll still stitch some securing loops to the
touch points to secure to the wig with tiny clips.
